Macomb County Online Marriage Application System
Your application has been received!
Pay your application fee and sign your application before a notary clerk at the Macomb County Clerk's office
To complete the application process, come to the Macomb County Clerk's office (no sooner than the next business day). The Clerk's Office is located in the Court Building, 40 North Main Street, Mount Clemens, MI 48043. The clerk will print your application form, you will sign it, and the clerk will notarize your signature. You must bring your driver’s license or state photo identification card. Only the bride or groom needs to attend (both are welcome to do so), but the person who comes must be a Macomb County resident. There is no charge for the notarization service.

Although you will leave the County Clerk's office with your marriage license, Michigan law requires a three-day waiting period from the day of application before the marriage license is valid. This waiting period does not include the application day. An additional $10 fee can be paid to waive the three-day waiting period. The license is valid anywhere in the state for thirty-three (33) days from the date of application.
Optional - order certified copies now
You may order certified copies of your Marriage License at this time. However, your order will not be filled until the Marriage Officiant returns the marriage license to our office for filing and processing. Marriage Officiants are allowed up to ten days from the date of the marriage to return the completed copies of the Marriage License. The cost is $15 for the first copy, and $5 for each additional copy of the same record after that.

After you receive three copies of your signed marriage affidavit from the county clerk, then your wedding ceremony may occur. The officiant, bride and groom, and witnesses will sign all three copies of the marriage license after the wedding ceremony, and the officiant will mail them to the Macomb County Clerk’s Office, where it will remain permanently on file and a copy will be filed with the state. You may obtain certified copies in the future. If you have any questions, please E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 586-469-5205.
